For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHO-so-ever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

When Christmas Comes
by Joshua F. Deckard
Christmas is the best time of year
It is the day when we all cheer
There is nothing but happiness and fun
Just playing with your presents all day in the sun
Some people don't get presents because they are poor
But God will give them presents and even more
Have a good Christmas, and make it fun
Because Jesus' work has been done

12 - With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.
13 - To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:
14 - And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:

19 - Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth for ever:
20 - And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:
21 - And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy endureth for ever:
22 - Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.
23 - Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:
24 - And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
25 - Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.
26 - O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.
What Kind of Straw Are You?
A word from the wise.....please STOP sipping from every glass, thinking it will alleviate your arid and parched pallet for thirst. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Mat. 5:6) So straw, what are you thirsty for? Why are you constantly sticking yourself in every glass just to fulfill your own fleshly desires and then put God's name in it just to make your sip sound convincing to others?? Stop fooling yourself. No one can outdo the other. Whatever is meant for a person, God will see to it that the person will have it....
get it....obtain it....achieve it....be blessed with it and never allow anything nor anyone take it away. BUT, if your straw is in every glass, you'll never notice how unique the other straws are and how they add to the decor of the glass. And, you will consistently struggle to achieve the highest quality of living you seek because you are too busy sipping from every glass, hardly enjoying the finer beverages of life.
It's not all about your straw but about the special glass that is designed for you to sip from. Will you keep taking the plunge into every glass then somehow end up witnessing your opportunity go "SPLAT" as you've sipped every glass empty and dry??? Will there be nothing to sip the next time you stick your straw in the glass. Will you only see selfish "Me" at the bottom? Is your straw stuck on "Me"? Will you only see a reflection of "Me" at the bottom of the empty glass or will you seek for the "Us" glass or "They" glass at the bottom?
Food for thought: How about giving another straw a chance to taste victory because not every straw can sip from a possible glass of opportunity if your straw is found in every glass.
Share the flavor of success by being a team straw because there is no "I" in "Team."

America Has Spoken
Thank God for the victory because the world will be forever changed! Not because of an African-American elect President but because of a fair, just and loving human being who took a chance at hope and said yes WE can. Yes America did! With God's help we all did it-- be it African-American, Anglo, Hispanic, Asian, Native-America or just plain old American!!!
Yes, Americans elected (not selected) the best candidate to lead the USA and the world into a new day of promise, hope, prosperity and most of all -- love for our neighbors. Not that I'm being political or anything like that but, I'm able to recognize the obvious reality and truth. It was time for a change but all in God's timing and not that of our own. That change has come for all of God's people therefore we should all celebrate the victory in Jesus!
The road has been tough. The journey has been an up-hill battle! We've climbed the rough side of the mountain and if the mountain wasn't rough, we wouldn't have been able to climb it but slide right back down to bottom. God made a way out of what most people thought "no way" - not in "my life time" but God.....He is still in control of our world and our nation, our lives and our destinies. God will only allow His people (Believers) to suffer for so long. Look at how God stopped the Enemy from torturing Job.
No more self-inflicted suffering due to ignorance and hate. No more bias and practiced exclusivity. No more lies that have been passed down from generation to generation. The status quo has now become passe. No, I'm not suggesting that life will be a bed of roses but exclusivity and unnecessary suffering will soon dissipate as life unfolds. We can begin to embrace souls and not the color of ones skin.
Congratulations President Elect Barak Obama! May God bless you and your family. May God cover you with the blood of Jesus and send forth His angels to protect you where ever your feet may tread. May God bless our world and heal our land!!!

VOTE!
VOTE: Exercise your right! Be a part of the solution and not the problem. Don't complain if you don't vote. No regrets because you didn't vote. Take your citizenship serious because not all of us are free. Some of our brothers and sisters are incarcerated, unable to exercise their right but YOU who are free must do YOUR part and truly embrace your American status along with your civic duty and VOTE.
VOTE: Not because you are Democratic or Republican but because you embrace real change.... embrace truth...embrace the idea that all humankind, created by God, are equal and treated with fairness, dignity and respect. Embrace the idea that every person should be able to feed themselves and their families. Not one person should be impoverished! There is plenty of resources to feed the world because God made sure of it! Let's stop the attitude of greed. Let's discontinue the attitude of selfishness and share the wealth! What good will it be for a person to gain the whole world yet forfeits their soul? Or, what can one of us give in exchange for our souls? When Christ comes back in his Father's glory and with His angels, He will reward each person according to what they have done. (Mat. 16:26-27 )
VOTE: Let's toss aside our bias opinions and look closely at reality; not just ersatz facts but take a closer look at the "real world." The economy is every person's responsibility (young, old, rich, poor). What we sow into the economy, we have a right to reap from the economy; and what we take out, we must replenish or else there will be sparse selections. Don't bite off more than we can chew and don't attempt to hold that which our hands cannot carry. Let's stop buying into greed, gluttony and bling. The only Super Star is Christ!
VOTE: Let us all be a part of American history by making a positive change in the lives of our families, our neighborhoods, our schools, in the workplace and God knows we need to make a positive change in our churches (small, medium and mega). Let's stop hurting our neighbors and start helping each other achieve our highest potential. Change is inevitable but how many of us are willing to embrace change? Stop bickering over "whom" and start asking "how". What can "I" do to help instead of what can "YOU" do to help "ME"???
VOTE: Sure, change can be uncomfortable and even scary but God is still in control of this universe. In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to Him.
Heb 2:8 (b)
VOTE: As long as God is your Leader, do not fret when humankind does evil because eventually God will stop the evildoers in their tracks and they will be cut down like the grass....(Ps. 37:1)
VOTE: Be strong and of good courage because God's hands are directing the traffic of this universe. Ride with ease but plan carefully and strategically for YOUR future. Go ahead and make the necessary adjustments so that YOU are able to withstand in the evil days.
With God, ALL (which leaves out nothing) things are possible... (Mat. 19:26 (b)

Spotting A Fake
The British Museum in London received an ancient artifact, a painted rock, in 2005. Titled "Early man venturing towards the out-of-town hunting grounds," it featured animals, a man, and a curious tool. After being on display for three days, the museum removed the artifact from its exhibit. It turned out that the "curious tool" painted on the rock was a shopping cart! A notorious hoax artist was responsible for getting it into the museum, where it remained until experts realized the piece was a fake.
People have the ability to show a certain personality on the outside while being something different internally. And just like the museum's "artifact," one's outward personality can be seen as legitimate if concealed well enough. However, there will come a time when something—a phone call, a speeding driver, a crisis—will expose the person’s true identity. The hoax-life will be revealed. Unless our outward appearance matches our inward appearance, we will be exposed for who we are inwardly. Jesus said, "A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit" (Luke 6:43).
Likewise, a person claiming to know Jesus as Forgiver and Leader should not go around berating or threatening his or her coworkers. These attitudes diminish one's potential witness for the Lord, giving those who don't know Jesus "valid" reasons not to believe him. Sooner or later our outward appearances will drown out our inward claims. We should be doing our best to exhibit Christ in the most positive light we can. Otherwise, our words and actions will be revealed as hypocritical.
Let’s be real—to ourselves, to others, and to God—and help others to be the same. That way, the only inward thing that will be exposed is the Lord we love and follow.
Amen!

The Inspired Word of God
What shall we say of it? There is no other book like it. Throughout the centuries no book has affected mankind quite like this one. At first, reading the Bible may seem to speak of many things [and it does] but if the eye is enlightened, it will discern but one central theme in those pages and that is Jesus the Christ. In this Blessed Book, we find the promised, foreshadowed, foretold Christ; the born Christ, crucified, and the resurrected Christ; the ascended, the Savior, Jesus Christ that came to dwell with His believers, and finally, the 2ND coming of Christ to return and receive His bride, which is the church.
The Bible refers to respective collections of religious writings of Judaism and of Christianity. The exact composition of the Bible is dependent on the religious traditions of specific denominations. Modern Rabbinic Judaism generally recognizes a single set of canonical books known as the Tanakh, or Hebrew or Jewish Bible. It comprises three parts: the Torah ("Teaching", also known as the Pentateuch or "Five Books of Moses"), the Prophets, and the Writings. It was primarily written in Hebrew with some small portions in Aramaic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible
The Bible consists of 2 testaments:
Old Testament (old covenant – Before Christ)
New Testament (new covenant - Salvation/Grace)
It’s important to understand the bible but it’s equally important to understand how to receive God’s revelation as you meditate on God’s Inspired Words. Seek God for your answers and the mysteries will eventually be revealed, if your heart is sincere and open to receive. Humankind looks at the outer appearance but God looks at the heart. Acts 1:24; 1 Corinthians 2:9
We see the examples of Judas, who misunderstood scripture, and as a result, he caused chaos and destruction. We must get an understanding (Proverbs 4:7). When we are not sure of our understanding, it’s best to acknowledge our finite wisdom then do an extensive search for our answers with the help of the Holy Spirit. Do not completely rely on the preacher; God speaks to YOU TOO! You just have to know His voice...
During meditative bible study, the scriptures will come alive and settle into your spirits, through the interpretation of the Holy Spirit. Once this manifestation takes place, you will be able to strategically defeat the tactics of the Adversary each day you arise; and to receive the promises of hope in Christ. You'll be able to speak the "language" in order to protect youselves from dangers seen and unseen. You WILL have the VICTORY!
"Each day we awake, our spirits will embrace the divine freedoms of salvation and not be consumed with the cares of this world. Our fleshly desires will begin to dissipate more and more; yielding our will completely to God's will. With our yielding to the Spirit, we can truly wear the full Armor of God effectively, and act as dunamis [dynamite] Christians in a world that is full of uncertainty, evil and strife." (dgd) Be blessed this day then go out and bless another!
Peace and Love,
Rev. Doris G

Divine Blessings
Last month, I experienced an overflow of blessings from my Heavenly Father. God allowed me to be blessed by others in ways I never expected. Out of my obedience and sacrifices, I was rewarded by God through 'men'. Luke 6:38 says to give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
All that I had given out, given up and sacrificed has come back press down, shaken together, etc..etc. It's like a boomerang of blessings that had been returned to me. Wow..God is the true and ultimate Rewarder of every good and perfect gift. Once God blesses you, no one can take your blessings because they are of God, from God, by God. My divine blessings came in many shapes, colors, sizes; from people, places and things; words of encouragement, lost contacts, re- connections and divine connections. God also made provisions for my family during this season of promise. Wow, how awesome and wonderful He is!!
If we seek God first, and His righteousness, all things shall be added (according to God's perfect will). He promised to supply all of our needs, and will allow us some of our wants. There were several partitions made to God by me and my family during our season of fasting and praying. Not only were our partitions granted, God went above and beyond our requests. Wow, what an awesome God we serve!!
OK -- reality check: I am not so arrogant to brag -- these blessings did not come easy but with a huge price; with much persecution. During my tough times, I just leaned and depended upon God. I did not give up nor give in and as a result of my perseverance, my blessings came in like a flood. The persecution increased my humbleness and reminded me that God is in control, regardless of my circumstances. God loves us and will chasten us in order to prepare us for our divine blessings. I am grateful for all that I've experienced during my down time and moments of despair. My trials have now become great testimonies; not only have my trials trained me to completely rely on God but I am a better person, spouse, co-parent; but most of all, a better Christian.
Blessed are ye when humankind shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my name sake. (Matthew 5:11) You know you're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. Even when everyone around you is doing wild and crazy things, God sustains you; always providing a way of escape. Even when your family, friends and loved ones turn their backs and your enemies increase, God will shield you and cover you in order for you to maintain a hopeful heart then proceed to fulfill your divine purpose. Nothing and no one will harm you. No harm will come near you. (Psalm 91)
As a result of my faithfulness, I was so richly blessed by God. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished. (Luke 1:45) I have given birth to a powerful ministry. As a pastor and teacher of the Gospel, ministry is life for me and food to my soul. Preaching and teaching the Gospel is my life's work, my passion and God will make sure I accomplish every divine purpose and plan He has for ministry and for my life. Now, that's something to shout about!! Hallelujah! Praise God! Thank You Jesus! Amen!
Divine Blessings come more than a 'dime a dozen'. The packaging may be nothing like you expect but when you seek God, you shall find Him and receive everything God has promised; MORE than you could ever think or ask (according to The Way Maker's perfect will).
Are you ready to receive your divine blessings? Seek - God - Expecting.......

Kiss and Say Good-Bye
Powerful lyrics but why a kiss?!?
A kiss is a term of endearment. A kiss is something that is the seal of approval. I’m sure most humans feel that getting the first kiss from a young lady or young man was the start of something. A kiss is usually how you greet your spouse. A kiss is how you say good night to your children. A kiss is what you share when you want to let a person know that you love them! So why in Luke 22:47 did Judas betray Jesus with a kiss?? This gives a whole new meaning to greeting with a kiss!
Jesus had 12 friends that we know as disciples. He chose his disciples Himself. The bible says that he knew one of them was the devil. So for 3 years of Jesus' life he walked, talked, and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a man that he knew would betray Him. Some may wonder why Jesus didn’t expose Judas for what he was. Why did Jesus allow Judas to continue on with Him?? The answer is simple. Jesus knew that prophecy had to be fulfilled. He knew he had an ultimate purpose in life. So in order to fulfill the promise, Jesus had to let someone he didn't necessarily care for as a person tag along to keep Himself focused on the purpose.
Here goes....GET ready to SHOUT! There are people in YOUR life that are there only to bother you. These people are in your life to keep you on your knees. These people are in your life because they are apart of the problem and the solution. These same people will help catapult you to your destiny! When Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, he opened our eyes to the fact that a kiss is not always what we intend for it to be.
Be careful who you let put their lips on you. When I say lips it's not always in the kissing form. Be careful of who speaks well of you. Be careful of who always has an answer. Be careful of the ones that seem to like you but it's just something about them that you just can't put your finger on.
Everyone in your life is not meant to stay in your life. Let's just kiss and say good bye. You can't carry everyone with you. There are some places that God wants you to go that only you can go. Learn to love, leave, and live your life as God intended!
Next time you're betrayed by someone you THOUGHT was a friend; just remember 'Let's Just Kiss and Say Good Bye! Jesus already knew the betrayal was on the way. So get over it, step on it, but don't live your life WONDERING WHY....

Christian Humor
The farmer, dressed in his Sunday best, looked at the young preacher and said, "Well pastor, I don't know much 'bout preachin', but I do know something bout farmin' and if I went out in the field and found only one cow, I'd still feed 'em."
This excited the young preacher who preached for the next 45 minutes a fierce fire and brimstone sermon. Afterwards the pastor asked the old farmer what he thought. The old farmer remarked, "Well pastor, I don't know much bout preachin', but I do know somethin' 'bout farmin' and if I went out in the field and found only one cow, I wouldn't give 'em the whole bale."

Promises of Restoration
As I sit and reflect on today's blessings, I am thankful to God for allowing me the opportunity to live in this harvest season. After you have weathered a few storms and managed to get through a few disappointments, your faith and strength are increased in God. Each day I awake, I appreciate life and the pursuit of joy and happiness. Unexpected blessings began to appear on this day -- to God be the Glory!!!
Jehovah has a way of reminding us that everything works out for our good. (Romans 8:28)
Even though life may become difficult and may seem bleak at times, God is doing some underground work in us so enjoy the down time. When it's time to re-surface, the time and chance will be restored then you become a new creature because the old things have passed away and the new life of the Spirit is upon us. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
We become fresh creatures like a new day of dawn, ready to face the new assignments that has been placed on our destiny road. Each day takes on new heights and new challenges of faith. Each breath of anticipation is no longer uncertain. The passage is clear; the moment is now; the time is ripe for a rich harvest!! If you've sown good things, you'll reap good things therefore, harvest season is here!!
God eventually restores everything one has lost or sacrificed for a specific purpose. God restores everything in His time. He gave back Job all that he'd lost and with interest! Zechariah was given a new life at an old age. The woman with the issue of blood was restored by faith. Noah and his family were protected from the flood and given another chance to start anew. God's plans always work for our good because He wants only the best for his chosen!
I'm extremely encouraged by God's timing in this season of promise and purpose. Yahweh has shown me multi-faceted ways of molding me into the church of excellence, purpose and destiny. I'm pressing on the upward way. God has planted my feet on higher ground. He has lifted me up to let me stand on His promises based on His Inspired Word. I have been fitted for the full armor, praise God, and I will continue to look upward because my help comes from high places in the heavenly realms. To God Be The Glory!
Christians are God's children and He is our Creator. Elohim is more than capable of sizing us up for HIS glory. Let the Most High do it in His time! Be blessed and enjoy your season of restoration!!!

Saved by Grace
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Grace is not determined on what we do, it’s not earned. Most (church) folk get this mixed up! Noah can tell us a little about grace- ( Genesis 6:8-9). He didn’t find grace from God because he was righteous and lived a blameless life- V9 doesn’t come before V8. His righteousness was the product of him having found grace and is therefore the proof of that grace, not the basis! It’s a gift!
God’s grace gave Paul a changed life forever. The means to salvation is grace! Only God’s grace begets life! .. not education, not free choice, not human rights, not religion…. That’s why it’s important that we focus on God’s work and not our worth! WE must focus on the Spirit and not our flesh! Paul gives us some good insight in his letter to the church at Ephesus. He erases away every possibility of self-achieved salvation by adding to his emphasis in verse 8. Any kind of human self-effort is ruled out by this expression!
It’s wonderful to just read the Word and think on it…especially this scripture!

Springtime Peace
(Numbers 6:26)
Back in the days of Moses, this is how the High Priest Aaron was instructed to bless the people of Israel. Peace was a blessing! Wow, how many of us look at peace as being a blessing? That is certainly a great way to enjoy peace! Just knowing you are blessed to have peace in your life.
For so many nations surrounding us, peace is so far out of reach; unimaginable, not even close to reality. With so much chaos going on in our world, where can we find peace? Take a walk with me. After this message, it is my prayer that you will find a path to the peace shores, resting in God’s grace and purpose for your lives; that peace from within that gives you those warm and fuzzy feelings; that inner peace that no one can ever touch!
People of all backgrounds and cultures, let us come together today to define and discover the purpose and importance of peace. How do we attain peace? Where do we begin our search for peace? Will peace enrich and improve our lives or is it a temporary visitor? In your heart of hearts, define peace?
For me, peace is freedom. Unleashed from worries and concerns. Contentment. Peace can bring about a calmness in our spirits that no one can explain. It can make you smile and enjoy life more abundantly. You'll have more pep in your step. Peace can mean silence in a noisy room, order in a disruptive atmosphere and holiness when people act ungodly.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by humankind. (Romans 14:17-18)
Trusting in God brings me peace. Just knowing that God loves me unconditionally brings peace to my spirit. Doesn’t matter what I’ve done or whom I’ve hurt (unintentionally of course), what I say or how I say it, God still loves me. Now, He may not approve of everything I do and say, but He loves me anyway. Now, that's peace!
Don’t you realize that God loves you right where you are? So, there is no need to worry about peace because God is peace. If you know that you are pleasing God, that alone should bring you endless peace. Walking in the will of God brings me peace. Resting on God's promises bring me even more peace.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
The peace of God transcends - surpasses, overpowers, beyond our understanding. Our thoughts are not like God’s neither are our ways. Our wisdom and understanding is finite but God's is infinite. Peace in God allows us to move through life with comfort and ease. Peace like the still waters on a warm fishing day
Let’s talk about how to attain peace and hold it near to your hearts. Try making peace a daily exercise through meditate on God and prayer; prayers from the pit of your heart and soul. Seek that personal and intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ, with the help of the Holy Spirit. Don’t settle for anything less! Peace is our source of hope; it gives us energy. It encourages and teaches us to trust in God and only in God for He will protect us in all of our ways. Psalm 91 tells us not to worry if we make the Most High our dwelling, our secret place of refuge. As children of God, we are protected by the angelic body-guards. No harm will befall our tents, homes or where ever you find refuge. Just keep your eyes, hearts and minds focused on Jesus and soon you will begin to take on His peace.

What's Your Struggle?
When you begin to think about your life, how often do you believe that you are where you are suppose to be? Does God have you on hold? Haven't gotten that promotion yet? Didn't buy that dream house? Failed the test, again!?! Well if so, maybe its for a reason. You may not recognize why that door was shut now, but someday it will be crystal clear. You may not have achieved those things now, but maybe you are still growing and just not mature enough to handle the blessings yet. Be still and know that He is God.
You have lessons to learn and spiritual maturity is in progess. So, what's the struggle? All things will work for your good providing God is the love of your life. If you place God first in everything you do, life will work better for you. What ever the will of God is for your life, that's what will happen because God wants only the best for you. Regardless of how bleak your future or situation may look now, just trust and have faith in God and He will see that you have a bright future. Your friends will need sunglasses because your future will be so bright! Be encouraged my sisters and brothers because God is still molding the clay in you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and you will be able to walk on water.
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chose them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. Romans 8:29-30 (NLT)
If you are called to it, you will be justified to do it and receive God's glory for it. Don't waste time wondering and worrying about what others think. Only be concerned with what God wants for you. If you are in the flow of the spirit, you can rest assure, that God is - all - over - it, whatever "it" is. Life is seasonal. With every season there is life -- death -- then life again. It's called the circle of life and that is the best way to continue to grow effectively. We need to die to selfishness daily. Take off that old robe of worry and put on a new robe of hope. Renew your mind and get your spirit in line with God's plan for your life. The only thing holding you back is YOU!!!! So, what's the struggle?
God's promises will never be broken. We are promised our daily bread (Ps. 23). Keep in mind that God is working on your behalf as long as you are in His will. Stay in the will of God for your life because that's your safety mechanism. If you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, you can rest in the shadows of the Almighty God. He will send His angels to guard you in all of your ways to protect you from running into walls and dead ends. Stay the course and finish the race. "Better to finish last than not finish at all." Your greatest reward is in heaven. Now, if you have been called to do great things for God, why are still sitting there???? Run like the wind, trust in God and He will orchestrate the music in your heart. Stop the inner struggle with your inner man or woman. Seek God for your plans and he will make your paths straight-forward with precision and perfection. So, what's your struggle?
What ever the conditions of your lives, Jesus paid the price to justify the purpose of your condition. There is a valid reason why you are who you are. Seek God for the reason. Let's get over the sin subject. The debt to sin has been cancelled by the final sacrificial lamb, Jesus Christ. Grace is our ticket to everlasting freedom of life and liberty but we must live to please God. He is the alpha and omega. He is Everlasting and Holy. Almighty and Powerful , Father -- Lord of ALL.
What, then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? (31) Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? (33)
Some things you just can't explain. Why am I this way or that way? Who can judge me? Not one! Some of us with the gift of prophecy or discernment may recognize unrighteousness but God is the only judge. We may assess and conclude but God determines the outcome. So, what's your struggle? If you are called to it, rise to the challenge and do it for kingdom's sake. God is looking for ambassadors not solders. Basic training is over now it's time to become skilled in your gifts but remember the battle is not ours, it's the Lord's.
You have the victory in Christ so, what's the struggle?

Happy Birthday Amarillo Kid
My younger sibling and I realized that dad's birthday finally fell on a Saturday [again]. After dad's health grew less and less, we would celebrate on the actual day of his birth and not wait until a weekend. Now, dad is celebrating in another place and that place is with God. My family can celebrate dad's special day in the spirit.
Yesterday, I thought about the day that dad decided to take a trip to Sears [Arl. TX] to purchase some lawn equipment. My brother advised me that dad went to return a weed eater but dad told me he went to purchase a riding lawn mower so, I'm going with my dad's facts. (sorry bro)
It was May 9 (mom's birthday) the day dad decided to purchase a riding lawn mower. As dad was making his purchase, the clerk provided him with a dollar amount but dad realized he didn't have enough "pocket change" to pay for the lawn mower. (dad considered pocket change to be no less that $1,200) So, he makes his way back home to get more "pocket change" and pick up mom so she could ride back with him. Mom had already left home with my younger sibling so dad heads back to Sears to complete his purchase. Well on the way back to Sears, dad missed his exit so he kept driving with the hopes of finding his way back to his original exit. Dad made his way to the nearest convenient food store to buy him 2 packs of cigarettes and a lottery ticket. Dad (being a guy) didn't want to ask for directions back to Sears so, he continued to drive west.
My brother calls me around 5 pm to inform me that dad was "missing." I thought, missing? What does he mean, missing? My brother began to tell me that dad had been gone from home since noon that day. (A neighbor informed my brother of the time dad had left home) I was very positive and advised my brother that dad was probably out joy riding -- glad to be out of the house. In a calm voice I told my brother to call me back if dad had not made it home by 7 o'clock pm. My brother call back and still -- no dad. I advised my brother to give dad until 8 pm to get home and if he's not home, call the authorities to report dad missing. After that conversation with my brother, I began to pray and asked God to cover dad where ever he may be. Once I prayed, I was able to finish my grocery shopping then head home. It was 10 pm and still no dad. My brother had called the GP Police to report dad missing.
The next morning, I arose with me and my spouse, dropped my son off at school. I met the principal at the door and she asked how I was doing. I told her to keep our family in her prayers as my dad is missing. The principal stopped and announced on the intercom that all faculty and students need to report to the hallway. We formed a circle then she began to inform everyone of my family's situation. We all began to bow our heads then the principal began to pray. Tears began streaming down my face. As we all held hands, we touched and agreed that God would bring my dad back home safely and unharmed. The principal gave me a hug of assurance that dad would be found shortly. I believed God had spoken through one of His chosen, and my faith lead me to be comforted by my belief in His promised word.
Approximately 2 hours after that prayer, I received a call from one of my siblings with the good news that dad had been found safely. I had every confidence and faith in God that where ever dad was, he was alright. Guess where dad ended up???..........in Amarillo Texas. Yes dad made his way to Amarillo! He was identified by a resident who happened to recognize the car and person that was reported missing via all of the major news channels and radio stations. The Amarillo police picked up my dad then impounded his car because dad did not have a valid driver's license. Dad only stopped in Amarillo because he ran out of gasoline!!!! It's funny how dad stopped at a convenient store to buy cigarettes and a lottery ticket but didn't get gas. THANK GOD he didn't get gas or else he may have ended up in Arizona somewhere (chuckle, chuckle).
Once we located dad, one of my brother-in-laws just happened to be in Amarillo picking up a load. (he's a truck driver). He was able to pick up dad from the police station then wait for my brother and one of my sisters and her husband to pick up dad because my brother-in-law had to complete his truck route. (see how God makes provision for the events that happen in our lives -- even before they happen???) Dad gets picked up and his car was driven back by my brother.
Dad finally arrives back home that late night. He was exhausted and dehydrated from driving all night. At the time of dad's wild adventure, he was 94 years old. Even after driving all night, God kept dad alert enough to stay on the road, not lose focus and not fall asleep while driving. Wow, God IS good all the time!!! God kept my dad from dangers seen and unseen. Dad had about $1,300 in his pocket during his adventure. He could have easily been harassed while driving, robbed, beaten or even lost his life but God sent His angels to protect dad during his travels. What a wonderful God we serve! Once I looked upon dad's face, I gave him a big hug and kiss on the forehead. I told him how glad I was to see him. Mom was not that cordial. She said, "man -- how in the world did you end up in Amarillo?!?" Dad's response was, "oh woman, I am too tired to fuss with you right now!" Dad went on in the house to get a bath and good night's rest.
The next evening, my family and I went to visit dad and mom. We engaged in conversation with dad and asked how he ended up in Amarillo, of all places. He told us what happened then said the funniest thing. Dad told us that he tried to call my brother but couldn't get his cell phone to work. I thought, cell phone??? I said to dad, "but you don't have a cell phone." He said, "yes I do -- but it wouldn't work." I asked dad to show me his cell phone. He told me that his phone was in the house, the black phone. The "cell phone" just happens to be outside so, he picks up the phone. Dad took the cordless phone from home with him just in case he got lost. I busted a gut and told dad that the cordless phone is not the same as a cell phone. I explained to dad the different functions between the 2 phones. Now, we're all laughing our socks off...in tears. Dad stated, "no wonder that phone wouldn't work!!!!".....then we began to laugh again until our jaws were hurting..we couldn't laugh any more. Dad had figured since us kids were always using our cell phones that his would work too. Dad found out that day that he did not have a cell phone after all. That day, we all learned that life will catch you off guard when you least expect it. This is the reason why we all have to be ready in season and out of season.
God gave us several more wonderful years with our dad and I am so grateful that dad was able to live out his life and leave this side of heaven in peace to go and be with our Lord.
Happy Birthday Amarillo Kid!

Great Leadership
"Leadership and domination are NOT synonyms."
-Tracy Brown
Effective leaders have great power. They are influential; they are trend setters. They are people others follow. But the people who follow, support and admire great leaders are followers by choice. Both domination and leadership require clear vision and personal strength. Both require you to make difficult decisions, sometimes with limited information. And both result in a group of people doing what you have pronounced as important and valuable. But the two approaches to getting things done is very different. Despite what some people in powerful positions believe, you are not a leader simply because you have power over others. Some people might follow your orders because they are paid to do so. Others might go along with your ideas because they don't want to makewaves. Many will do what you say because they are afraid to question or challenge you. But don't confuse your domination over them for leadership. Domination gets you results the way you want them for the reason you want them. Leadership achieves results everyone is proud of and invested in. Domination puts you in charge or your own little kingdom. Leadership puts you in charge of creating an environment that honors and provides for others. Great leaders are strong and use their power to include and serve others.
Think . . . and act . . . like a leader!
Let us be examples of leaders who are trustworthy, caring, courageous and fair.

Do Something Great
--Dr. Benjamin E. Mays
Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays (August 1, 1895 (?) – March 28, 1984) was an African-American minister, educator, scholar, social activist and the president of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also a significant mentor to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and was among the most articulate and outspoken critics of segregation before the rise of the modern civil rights movement in the United States.
Every human was born to do something so why are some of us just sitting around waiting for someone else to do something great? What about you??? If you don’t do something then who will?? If you’re not sure of your purpose, seek God for your answer. He’ll certainly direct your path.
Hello unique person! You were meant to do something distinctive so, what’s the problem? Well preacher, ‘I don’t have any resources.’ Do you know at least 2 people you can trust? Then call upon them for help. Do you have any extra time? Use it. Do you have any extra money? Invest it wisely. Do you know Jesus? Call on him!! Activate your faith. Don’t just sit around making up excuses why you shouldn’t try. If you fail, try again. If your methods and techniques are not working, try some new ones. You will succeed according to your God-given purpose. Just don’t give up hope.
Use all of your resources with honorable intentions and you’ll come to find that you have all the gifts and talents you need to at least get started. Begin to live out your greatness!! NEVER forget your main source and that is God. Without God we can do nothing but with God we can do all things. Take a look at Phil 4:13 in The Inspired Word of God. (The Bible)
So, how will you celebrate YOUR heritage? Become a business owner or employee or both. Work for a living – Jesus did. Do what’s right and fair. Live a godly life because Jesus paid too much for us to want to live any other way. Love your neighbors as God loves us. Liking your neighbor is another story...(let's keep it real)...but love is a requirement for all who belong to the Family of Believers. (Christians) not talking 'bout the church folk -- there's a major difference)
Let’s put away excuses and begin to really celebrate in freedom and love. Serve God and each other. Have respect for your elders, your pastors, your teachers, your parents & siblings, your friends and YOURSELF. Take pride in all you do but don’t be haughty with it because God detests that attitude. Be authentic. Volunteer in your community. Give something away. An open hand is able to receive but if your hands are closed, nothing can come in because nothing is going out. Love your children. Take care of your pets. Do something unique. Don't be a copy-cat and own someone else's greatness. You can never work it like they can!
Every human is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive, and if he or she does not do it, it will never be done.
So, let 's get to work and make something GREAT happen!

Black History Month
Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson is known as the "Father of Black History", a distinguished Black author, editor, publisher, and historian. Carter G. Woodson (December 1875 - April 1950) believed that Black history - which others have tried so diligently to erase - is a firm foundation for young Black Americans to build on in order to become productive citizens of our society.
On February 26, 1926, Carter G. Woodson announced “Negro History Week.” From that day on, African-Americans and their allies have been celebrating Black History -- only now, we have a whole month. My question is; why do we wait for February to roll around each year before we celebrate?? Why not celebrate every day, 24/7/365? Why wait to pull out the trivia, have programs at the community centers, luncheons, and celebrate renowned personalities who made a difference in Black America by hanging large poster boards, most of people we've never heard of or read about?
Dr. Woodson often said that he hoped the time would come when Negro History Week would be unnecessary; when all Americans would willingly recognize the contributions of Black Americans as a legitimate and integral part of the history of this country.
Black folks, we have contributed a great deal to this country. I mean, we've help to build this place called America so why not take stock in America. Why not build generational wealth, buy property, improve our communities, help one another. No, instead, we've done just the opposite. We celebrate in a totally different way than our forefathers and mothers. Instead of investing in one another, we buy new cars, add more bling, bling around our necks, more name brand tennis shoes on our feet, cloths that we'll probably never get around to wearing then end up giving away only to buy more.....
How about we reduce this vicious cycle of frivolous spending and just living for the weekend and get down to some real enterpising??? Invest less dollars in Hillfigers, Hummers and hydrolics -- why not invest dollars and sense into our own businesses?? Yes, I meant sense. We have to have enough sense to know when to spend and when to save; when to invest and when to buy; when to hold 'em and fold 'em. I mean, who started the "sag" look and the mule fad (remember walking on the backs of your tennis shoes back in the day)....and who's capitalizing on those fads??
Without Black History we really have little or no history. All we would have is...his story. Who's telling our story?? When are we going to begin to tell "our" story of how we've rebuilt our neighborhoods by investing in them, and how we've built educational facilities to help the illiterate, and how we took a young "brotha or sista and invested in their future?? When are we going to teach our young men and women about self respect?? And where is Jesus in all of this nonesense?? Are we teaching our young ones about Jesus?? Christ gave up his life for us and how will we celebrate our freedom? Will we waste it or use it to improve our land??
You can say that the "white"man is holding us down but that story is not as true as it once was. Yes, we've gone from physical to the mental slavery. No, you may not be called the "N" word to your face but you just can't seem to achieve that management position in "Corporate America". So what! Start your own company and be your own boss then you can be the owner, manager and employee.
Just think what would happen if we would begin to pool our resources, come together as a unit?? We could build up countries, buy islands and resorts, buy or build airlines, own car lots, grocery stores, shopping centers and malls, build enterprises again. We are too B.U.S.Y. (Being Under Satan's Yoke) coveting our neighbors houses, cars, wives & husbands (sometimes both). We want to live like the Jones', be like Mike, live like the rich and famous. What part of "thou shalt not" didn't we understand?? Don't be hatin' on each other, use the other 4-letter word--HELP. Why be jealous of someone you're trying to help? You never know how much of a blessing that person could be to you. I'm not saying help with hidden motives but help because it's the right thing to do.
Just think how much more full our lives would be if we would learn to support and really celebrate our heritage by helping one another. When are we going to wake up and really be a true brother or sister?? Be that village that raises Sis. So & So's kids. Get drugs out of our neighborhoods. Have block parties and family reunions without the shootings. Let's get back to the basics.
Once we understand our past, then we can get on with our future. If we gain the knowledge about our forefathers and mothers, the hardships they endured to get us Blacks from the "back of the bus" to the front and out of the back of the kitchen to the inside of the dining area of a restaurant, from the barn house to the classroom and from the cotton fields to the corporate offices....wow!!!...what a difference we would make in our world, our nation, our state, our "hood" and in our homes.
What if...?????

Recipe For A Happy New Year
Leave the old with a burst of song
Recall the rights and forgive the wrongs
Release the thing that binds you fast
The vain regrets of the year that's past
Have the strength to let go your hold
Of the non-worthwhile days grown old
Dare to go forth with a purpose true
To the unknown task of the year that's new
Help your brother or sister along the road
To help in his or her works and lift their load
Add your gifts to the world's good cheer
To have and to give a Happy New Year
Have a Great 2008!!
